The online text of Chateaubriand's Memoirs has been completely updated, and enhanced by the addition of over 600 public-domain illustrations. Once an online page of the Memoirs has loaded the reader can click on any of the illustrations to enlarge the specific image (best viewed on a large screen). 

This is the only complete translation in English, and provides a fully detailed index, which helps the reader to navigate the complex politics and social scene of the period.
